Employment Supports Coordinator, Full-Time- Freeland, MD

Penn-Mar Human Services, founded in 1981, serves more than 400 adults with intellectual disabilities through its residential, respite, educational, vocational and supported employment programs in northern Baltimore, Carroll and Harford Counties in Maryland, and in southern York County in Pennsylvania. We are currently seeking an Employment Supports Coordinator for our Customized Employment Division.

The Employment Supports Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and providing the necessary supports for individuals in community jobs. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or Human Resources (or a related field) or 2 years' experience working in the Human Services field. This position requires administrative support, as well as hands-on direct care with the people that we serve. The successful candidate will display advanced communication skills, be a self-starter and have a desire to succeed and advanced understanding of community advocacy related to employment of persons with disabilities.

The regularly scheduled hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, with required ability to flex schedule as needed to work outside of regular office hours. Position involves travel. The work location for this position is Freeland, MD.

This job is inclusive of, but not excluded to the following duties:

  • Serve as an internal and external liaison for the employment department.
  • Assisting in coordinating of job schedules and providing on-site job coaching as needed.
  • Negotiating with employers on salary issues, job responsibilities and accommodations as needed.
  • Working closely with the employment team to identify necessary supports to yield success in the workplace.
  • Work with individuals with intellectual disabilities to identify employable skill sets.
  • Work with families to build employment supports.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff performing job coaching duties.
  • Complete employer satisfaction surveys for employers partnering with Penn-Mar for community employment.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School Diploma/ G.E.D.
  • Acceptable criminal background.
  • Valid Driver's License with 2 yrs. experience, and less than 3 moving violations (NO Major Violations, D.U.I's, Suspensions) in the previous 36 months.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment Drug Screen/ Physical/ Mantoux Test (PPD, TB).
